ok – I think nearly all of us LOVED the ad campaign that the NRA ran for more than a year prior to the 2016 election.
But – they fell short. In this case – all the moral arguments and reason employed did not touch 2 extremely important issues;
1) the deep wealth of writing from the founders on WHY the 2nd Am was put there
2) drafting off that – BECAUSE we the people need to let the leaders know that we will not be tyrannized
A possible 3rd – which would have been easy enough to do – would have been to expose Obama as not merely a socialist – something he freely and proudly admits to – but to expose his connection to Marxist-Leninist (ML) groups in his past. Had you told me 10 years ago that Obama was a ML – I would have thought, “that doesn’t sound great – but I’m not sure what that means”. I believe most Americans do not know what that means.
7 days before Kennedy was assassinated – he said, “There is a plot in this country to enslave every man, woman and child. Before I leave this high and noble office, I intend to expose this plot.”
It means overthrowing our system of Individual Responsibility and Liberty by any means possible – including infiltration, lying, appearing moderate while subverting, violent civil war if needed, etc. Once they have control – and here’s the key – THE GUNS ARE GONE – the doctrine calls for setting up camps in remote locations and “eliminating enemies of the state”. Lenin and Stalin combined to murder at bare minimum – 24,000,000 kind, principled people. Most experts are now saying the number exceeds 40,000,000. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn claimed the number of political murders exceeded 60,000,000.
So – The NRA NEVER once ran an ad showing how socialists – including Hitler – have taken peoples guns – and then taken their defenseless lives. They never ran an ad showing the quotes from the founders that THEY were – in fact – most fearful that future citizens might have a tyrant rise within their midst – and that those tyrants will be run out of office by an armed citizenry.
They could have shown JFK – yes – JFK – who was a staunch supporter of the 2nd Am for this exact reason. Further – he hated socialism – and knew that they were trying to infiltrate our institutions and our government. Name a democrat today that is an outspoken advocate for the 2nd Am.
If JFK had the courage and good sense to speak plainly about socialism as do I – which is to call it the malignant socio-political cancer that is – why not the NRA? If JFK could speak clearly on the main reason – BY FAR – for the 2nd Am – as do I – why NOT the NRA??
Do your own searches – JFK had plenty more to say on this topic.
Listen to our founders….
“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.” – Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787
“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.” – Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, December 20, 1787
“The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes…. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” – Thomas Jefferson, *Commonplace Book* (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776
“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” – Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759
“To disarm the people…[i]s the most effectual way to enslave them.” – George Mason, referencing advice given to the British Parliament by Pennsylvania governor Sir William Keith, *The Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adooption of the Federal Constitution*, June 14, 1788
“I ask who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers.” – George Mason, Address to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 4, 1788
“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops.” – Noah Webster, *An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution*, October 10, 1787
